Privacy policy

This page explains how Earth in 24 Hours ("this site") handles information.

1. Information stored on your device

There are no accounts on this site. Your game records (ending and creature collections, lineage history and Today's Earth result), language setting, and the birth year you may enter for comparison are stored only in your browser (local storage) and are not sent to our server. You can delete them by clearing your browser data, or with "Delete all records" (history) and "Delete collections" (collections) on the "Be born" screen.

Share links contain your game result — your era, creature names, the path you chose and your ending — and no personally identifying information such as your name.

If you exhibit in the Fossil Museum

Only when you press "Exhibit this lineage in the Fossil Museum" on the ending screen is that lineage's record (era of birth, creature names, the path chosen, the selection events it went through and its ending) saved on our server and shown publicly in the museum. Your name, contacts and birth year are not sent. To limit how often you can exhibit or "Remember", we use a value derived from your IP address that changes every day (a hash); the IP address itself is not stored. To have an exhibit removed, please use the contact page.

2. Hosting logs

The service that hosts this site may record information such as IP addresses, browser type and access times for security and operation. This information is handled under the hosting provider's own privacy policy.

3. Advertising

This site may use Google AdSense, a third-party advertising service.

4. Analytics

This site does not currently use analytics tools. If we add one to understand usage and improve the site, we will describe the tool and the information it handles on this page.

5. Information you send us

We receive inquiries through Google Forms. What you send (including your name or email address, if you include them) is used only to respond to you and improve the site, and is not shared with third parties except where required by law. Google's privacy policy also applies to information sent through Google Forms.

6. Sharing with third parties

Except where required by law, we do not share information with third parties without your consent.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as needed and will post any changes on this page.

8. Contact

For questions about this policy, please use the contact page.
